Boise State Broncos men's basketball to take on Sam Houston State
BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Boise State men’s basketball (0-1, 0-0 MW), continues its season-opening road trip Sunday, against Sam Houston State (0-2, 0-0 AAC), in the Southwest Showcase at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
Tipoff is slated for 1 p.m. CT/noon MT. The Broncos and Bearkats face off in the first of two games at the Southwest Showcase.

Sam Houston State is 0-2 to start the season after falling to SMU in the opener and Texas Tech on Friday.
The Bearkats return four contributors from last season’s team that went 18-13 and finished fourth in the Southland Conference, led by all-league pick Zach Nutall who averaged 15.6 points per game last year.
Boise State leads the all-time series with Sam Houston State, 1-0. They defeated the Bearkats 73-66, Dec. 29, 1987, in the first game of the Albertsons Holiday Classic in Boise. That Bronco team went on to finish the season 24-6, winning the Big Sky regular-season and tournament titles, and advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in program history.
Four Broncos made their team debuts Friday, against No. 17 Houston, including redshirt juniors Marcus Shaver, Jr., and Mladen Armus who both started. Shaver and Armus sat out last season after transferring from Portland and East Tennessee State, respectively. The duo combined for 27 points and 13 rebounds. Shaver scored 16 points while leading the Broncos with seven rebounds and three steals. Armus tallied 11 points and six boards.
Sophomore guard RayJ Dennis started his second season as a Bronco on a high note. Dennis led Boise State with 18 points in the season opener at No. 17 Houston, on 8-of-13 shooting, while matching the team lead with three assists in a career-high 38 minutes. It was his fourth career game scoring in double figures and one point shy of his career-high. Dennis appeared in all 32 games as a freshman, including 15 starts, averaging 4.1 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 17.5 minutes per game.
