Man drags Boise officer up to 20 yards in vehicle after traffic stop, BPD says
BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) — A 25-year-old Boise man is facing a slew of felony charges after police say he dragged a Boise Police officer during a traffic stop.
Boise PD says on Friday morning at about 2:30 a.m., an officer stopped a vehicle on Vista Avenue for a traffic violation. As an officer approached the vehicle, police say the driver, Rahim Reed, sped away, but an officer's arm became stuck in the driver's side area and he was dragged between 15-20 yards before he fell to the ground.
Officers tried to look for Reed's vehicle but were unable to track it or Reed down.
On Saturday, BPD says an officer spotted Reed near the 7800 block of Overland Road. Authorities say Reed then tried to speed away through the parking lot, but BPD says officers used a pit maneuver to stop the car. After resisiting arrest, he was forcibly taken into custody.
He's been charged with six felonies and four misdemeanors related to this incident, according to online Ada County Jail records.
The officer suffered minor injuries.
