Nampa schools cancel outdoor activities Wednesday due to poor air quality
NAMPA, Idaho (CBS2) — The Nampa School District says all outdoor activities are canceled or relocated indoors on Wednesday due to low air quality.
While the smoke will stick around this morning, the air quality should improve on Thursday and Friday behind the weak front moving into our region Wednesday afternoon.
The Storm Prediction Center believes we will see a marginal risk of severe weather as the front moves in. At a minimum, expect to see scattered thunderstorms.
At worst, some of the storms will have the potential to be severe, meaning we could see gusty winds between 50 to 70 mph in parts of the Treasure Valley. Brief, but heavy rain or hail is possible wherever these storms occur.
The scattered thunderstorms should help to clear out the smoke just a bit.
