A Twin Falls County Sheriff Deputy came to the aide of a young man in need of some help and support.

The sheriff's office says deputy Shelli Stokesberry was on patrol at the overlook parking lot near the Hansen bridge on Monday when she saw a young man park his car along the shoulder of the bridge.

Stokesberry walked onto the bridge and spotted him put his leg over the railing.

"Deputy Stokesberry intervened and convinced the young man to walk with her back to the area where the car had been parked," deputies said. "Traffic was heavy at this time of day and with little room to negotiate or think about her safety with traffic rushing by with this young man she made a difference!"

The sheriff's office says deputies were able to get the individual assistance he needed.

"We wish to take a moment to say thank you to Deputy Stokesberry for her quick thinking while placing herself in danger to save a life."

If you or someone you know needs to talk, help is available. The National Suicide Hotline is available 24 hours a day at 1-800-273-8255
